Melipona Bacalar is a design-forward boutique retreat on Laguna Bacalar — Mexico's storied Lagoon of Seven Colors. Conceived as a sanctuary rather than a resort, it gathers a small collection of private villas around shaded courtyards, elevated walkways, and unobstructed water views.

Every element is chosen with restraint: locally sourced stone, hand-finished plaster, native hardwoods, and architecture that yields to the canopy rather than competing with it.

The Experience

The Setting

On the shores of Laguna Bacalar.

Bacalar is a designated Pueblo Mágico — a freshwater lagoon stretching nearly 60 kilometers through the southern Yucatán Peninsula. Its layered blues, fed by underground cenotes and ancient stromatolite reefs, are unlike anywhere else in Mexico.

The town remains intimate by design. Reachable from Cancún, Tulum, and Chetumal, yet a world removed in pace and atmosphere — a place that has long resisted the scale of the Riviera Maya and intends to keep it that way.
